2025 Drug Awareness

DAHS CREATES DRUG AWARENESS

January month is drug Awareness month and thus De Aar High School, in collaboration with the SGB, invested in the skills of an ex-drug addict, Sam Mogorossi to come share his story. His testimony is one of hope - you can get off and stay off, drugs.

He spoke about the destruction that drugs cause in your brain and highlighted the toll it takes on your physical and emotional well-being, as well as the influence thereof on your social life. He is a living testimony that there are better ways to a happier and more fulfilling life, than to get involved in addiction.

He addressed each of the grades in group sessions during their Life Orientation periods and had individual sessions on request as well.

We are grateful towards our school management for this opportunity they provided, to inform and warn learners about the dangers of any addiction.

Parents must be aware of the dangers of smoking hookah-pipe, cigarettes, vaping, drinking alcohol and even cell phones. As a community we can surely do more to combat the challenges with addictions. If we do not intervene, our next generation might get lost in this abyss…

It takes a village to raise a child!
