HSDA LEERDER PRESTEER

Leandro De Carvalho, ‘n Gr. 9 HSDA leerder, is lief vir Wikunde en het besluit om vir homself geleenthede te skep om blootstelling te kry aan “Hoërgraad” Wiskunde. Hy het gevolglik homself hierdie jaar ingeskryf vir AdMaths.

By meeste skole is AdMaths nie deel van hul kurrikulum nie, maar dit bied die geleentheid aan leerders om aan gevorderde wiskunde blootgestel te word. Daar word weekliks klasse aangebied, en hul maak dit moontlik vir die plattelandse kinders om deur Zoom lesse, klas by te woon.

Daar word per kwartaal toets geskryf en ook ‘n taak ingedien.

Leandro het in die eerste kwartaal 70% behaal vir sy toets en 92,5% vir sy taak.

Hy is dankbaar teenoor HSDA wat ‘n personeellid beskikbaar gestel het sodat hy na-ure in die middel van die skool se toetsreeks, sy toets kon skryf.

Leandro beoog om AdMaths te neem tot die einde van Gr.12. Indien hy dit suksesvol voltooi behoort dit hom ‘n hupstoot te gee op Universiteit. Hierdie is ‘n bewys dat sukses nie net in die stad behaal kan word nie, maar ook in die Platteland. Jy moet net bereid wees om vir jouself geleenthede te skep.

DAHS STUDENT ACHIEVES

Leandro De Carvalho, a 9th Grade DAHS student, loves Mathematics and has decided to create opportunities for himself to gain exposure to “Higher Grade” Mathematics. He consequently signed up for AdMaths this year.

At most schools, AdMaths is not part of the curriculum, but it does provide learners with the opportunity to be exposed to advanced mathematics. Classes are offered weekly, and they make it possible for the rural students to attend class through Zoom lessons.

Tests are written every term and a task is also submitted. Leandro scored 70% for his test in the first term, and 92,5% for his task.

He is grateful to DAHS for making a staff member available so that he could write his test after hours in the middle of the school's test series.

Leandro intends to take AdMaths until the end of Grade 12. If he completes it successfully, it should give him a boost at University. This is proof that success can not only be achieved in the city, but also in the countryside. You just have to be prepared to create opportunities for yourself.
